The bright mornings. The dawn chorus waking us gently from our slumber (yes, a little earlier than I’d hope for). Drawing the curtains back to see a slow explosion of green, small snatches of blue and purple as the wisteria in our garden begins to open. Our drives into town are now peppered with big and small white and woolly friends, sheep and their small lambs appearing, and we said hello to some small ducklings yesterday as they bobbed down the river with their mama.

We currently have a bird obsessed toddler. She listens with utmost concentration when she hears them out on a walk. She points at every window and says “bird” in the hope of catching sight of one. And when she actually does, our feathered friend is met with so much pointing and shrieking that the poor thing usually clears off quite quickly. On the 20th - 21st January - next week - the Earth will pass between the Sun and the Moon, blocking it’s reflections on the moon and causing a total lunar eclipse.
